Welcome to our farm!
We have moved! We have come back home to Oregon! We did love the Klickitat area of Washington that we had been living in--but, we missed seeing our grown children & our grandchild. So our only choice was to find a suitable farm back in Oregon!
Our new, almost 40 acre farm, is located between Molalla & Silverton. It is in a very active agricultural & livestock area of the Willamette Valley. Our farm and the surrounding area is stunning to say the least!!
Our farm continues to be focused on lingering fineness in both white and colored fleeced huacaya alpacas. Our farm has been awarded Color Championships at an AOBA sanctioned show as a result of our breeding decisions. Additionally, our herd includes many Champions in our pedigrees. Our pedigrees includes Snowmass, The Elite Maximus, Hemingway & Accoyo bloodlines.
As a medium-sized farm, we are dedicated to providing you with the best possible advice and service. Give us a call, we'd love to answer your questions!
Welcome to Alpacas of Dancing Meadows Farm! Owners are Jenny & Jim Kirk. Our new farm in located in the the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon, between Molalla & Silverton.
Jenny grew up with exposure to farm life, while Jim was a City dweller. Well, Jenny changed that for JIm. Before he knew it, he was involved with horses! Now, look at us...we're living the 'good life' in the country with our alpacas, horses, livestock guardian dogs, chickens, family dogs, cats and turtles! (Yep, I said turtles!!)
We started our alpaca farm by purchasing our first 5 huacaya females in 2007. Two of these females were pregnant, two were crias and one was almost ready for breeding. Our original goal was to focus on primarily 'white' alpacas having Accoyo and lingering fineness in their pedigrees. It didn't take us long to add color to our breeding program. We love the blacks! But, again, we have focused on genetics that are proven and include lingering fineness in their pedigrees.
We've grown a bit since our original purchases. Alpacas of Dancing Meadows is proud to offer herdsires for hire, ranging in color from white to black. We carefully chose herdsires that have very well-known, high impact pedigrees and boasting 'lingering fineness' in every one of them!
Our farm can offer you breeding stock, pregnant or open proven dams, maidens, geldings when available and herdsire males. We often times have fiber or 4H quality alpacas available, as well. If you are not quite ready for alpacas now, we will board any alpacas you purchase from us for 3 months free of charge. Our boarding fee is $3.00 per day, per alpaca after the 3 months are up. This includes hay, supplemental feed & watering. Shots, fecal testing, veterinarian services, training and birthing services are extra.
We've been working with the fleece, too! We have raw fleece, yarn and batts available for sale. The fleece is definitely the 'future'! There are so many choices available, and growing, when it comes to the alpacas' harvest, it's the fleece!
We strive to be great shepherds to our alpacas and will provide you with the best possible assistance in choosing your alpacas or help choosing a good breeding with one of our herdsires. We can also advise you on such things as farm setup, fencing, what to feed, vaccinations, toenail clipping, fecals and alpaca training.
During our time in this industry we have found that we are often times helping other breeders, folks that just have a couple of alpacas or someone just wanting to learn more about alpacas. We love that sort of thing! So, please don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions or just need a little advice. If we don't know the answer, we can generally direct you to the right source.
The alpaca industry is exciting, fun and still has plenty of room for growth! Alpaca fleece is the future!
We'd love to hear from you! Please give us a call or email us today! Better yet, schedule a farm visit.
